= Mining Overview = Mining in Aurora 4X extracts trans‑Newtonian minerals from planetary bodies, asteroids, comets, and deep‑space locations. Several installations and ship components support mineral extraction, each suited to different environments and colony types. == Mine == Conventional ground‑based mining installation operated by population. Produces minerals based on accessibility and Mining Production tech. Requires workers and infrastructure on non‑habitable bodies. == Forced Labour Mining Camp == Low‑cost mining installation that uses compulsory labor. Provides the same mineral output as a Mine and is used on colonies where population is available for forced labor. == Automated Mine == Unmanned mining installation that operates without population. Useful on high‑colony‑cost worlds, asteroids, and small bodies. Begins mining immediately when unloaded at a colony. == Mass Driver == Installation that launches mineral packets to another colony in the same system. Sends minerals automatically based on configured routing. Requires a receiving mass driver at the destination. == Orbital Mining Module == Ship‑mounted mining module used to extract minerals from small bodies without population. Minerals are deposited into the colony stockpile of the target body. Requires towing by a tug. == Fuel Harvester == Ship component that extracts sorium from gas giants. Produces fuel directly and supports long‑range logistics networks. == Asteroid Mining == Asteroids can host conventional or automated mines once designated as colonies. Minerals are transported away by freighters or mass drivers. == Deep Space Mining == Mining operations on remote or low‑gravity bodies using automated mines or orbital mining modules. Minerals are moved by freighters or mass drivers depending on the site. == Civilian Mining Complex == Autonomous civilian‑run mining sites that appear on bodies with accessible minerals. Output contributes to the empire’s mineral stockpile and is visible in the Empire Mining tab. == Empire Mining Overview == The Economics window lists total mineral production, stockpiles, accessibility, and output per colony. Includes contributions from civilian mining complexes and all mining installations.
