Function
[edit]Financial Centres are installations that increase the wealth generated by the colony they are on. Each centre adds as much wealth as 1,000,000 citizens.
Shutting Down (VB6 only)
[edit]Financial centres can be mass-shutdown via the Civilian / Ind Status tab of the Economics screen. This will immediately free up population for other industries. Shutting down in this way will require a 6-month warm-up time to restart construction.
C# has no equivalent mechanic - instead, the usual way to free up population is to move financial centres to another colony, as they require no resources to operate (unlike production facilities) and have no benefits from concentrating several of them together (like the convenience you get from large groups of Research Labs in the same place).
Misc
[edit]In C#, financial centres can be moved freely, and take 25,000 tons of cargo space. In VB6, financial centres cannot be moved once constructed.
