[edit]Spaceports (previously known as Commercial Spaceports in VB6 ) are installations that decrease the load times of ships in orbit. This affects anything being loaded into Cargo Holds, Cryogenic Transport bays, and Troop Transport Bays.
In C#, the loading speed benefits of a spaceport can also be replicated with the cheaper Cargo Shuttle Station. However, a spaceport also functions as a Refuelling Station and an Ordnance Transfer Station as well, at a lower combined cost than the three (3000 vs 3600). Since fuel and ordnance stations transfer their loads instantly, a colony does not need more than one spaceport, and cargo shuttle stations are preferred after the first spaceport.
Formula: Adjusted Load Time = Load Time / (Spaceport Level + Cargo Shuttle Station Level + 1)
Misc
[edit]In C#, spaceports take 1,000,000 tons of cargo space (or 40 standard Cargo Holds) to move. In VB6, commercial spaceports cannot be moved once built.
