Geological Survey Sensors
This article contains information relevant to both the C# and VB6 versions of Aurora. Where differences exist, they are noted in the appropriate sections.
Geological Survey Sensors are components which allow a ship to survey system bodies for mineral deposits. Geological Survey Sensors produce survey points - the basic Trans-Newtonian sensor provides 1 survey point per hour, and better variants can be accessed through research. They count as commercial components in VB6 and military components in C#.
Usage
[edit]To complete a geological survey of a system body (planet, moon, asteroid, comet), a survey ship needs to accumulate a certain number of survey points. These are automatically accumulated when in orbit around a system body. Default orders for 'Survey nearest body' can be used to automate survey.
Geological survey sensors may not discover all minerals on a planet. See VB-Survey and C-Survey for details on follow-up ground surveys.
