This article contains information relevant to both the C# and VB6 versions of Aurora. Where differences exist, they are noted in the appropriate sections.

Crew quarters are a component that provide life support for your crew.

Usage

Each ship design must always include sufficient life support for the crew. During Class Design, the required total is shown. The amount of life support needed is dependent on Deployment Time and the number of Crew; the game will automatically assign the needed amount of life support without any input needed from the player.

Having more people onboard that crew quarters will support will rapidly increase deployment clock and incur a maintenance failure chance specifically for crew quarters. This is relatively rare in C# (usually only happening when quarters are damaged by maintenance failures or combat damage), but they are more of a concern in VB6, due to that version being more concerned with exact quantities of quarters. As such, if you plan to use a VB6 ship to pick up survivors or POWs, it is recommended to add Cryogenic Transport to it.
