This article contains information relevant to both the C# and VB6 versions of Aurora. Where differences exist, they are noted in the appropriate sections.

Hangar Decks and Boat Bays allow a ship to carry smaller ships. These can be Fast Attack Craft, Fighters or any other ship as long as the total tonnage of all carried ships is smaller than or equal to the carrier's total hangar capacity.

Ships in a military hangar do not roll for malfunction, need maintenance facilities or use maintenance supplies. Military hangars also allow for full repairs, including armor repairs, that would otherwise need to take place at a shipyard, and DCR rating of the carrier is added to that of ships inside, speeding up the repairs.

The commercial hangar decks only repairs commercial ships, and doesn't stop maintenance clock of military ships either (but it still reduces their deployment clock). It still can supply MSP for military ships to self-repair, and commercial hangars can be paired with maintenance modules to allow for extended deployments.

VB6 note: There cannot be any fighters or ships in the hangar of a ship that is inside another hangar. You'd have to launch fighters from a carrier before putting them both inside a hangar. (This is not a concern in C#.)
